Welcome

The Weavers Guild of Miami Valley, Inc. was organized in 1949 to promote interest in handweaving.  Today the Guild is a non-profit, educational organization promoting handweaving, handspinning and the textile arts.  The Guild offers educational programs in fiber techniques and processes and encourages artistic awareness and excellence in the textile crafts through lectures, discussions, exhibits, workshops and demonstrations.

Greetings Guild Members

We must be in Spring since the weather can’t make up its mind to be Winter or Summer. I hope these “flipping temperatures” aren’t causing people to get sick. My sincere thanks to all those members that have volunteered to run for Guild Officer positions. This organization cannot function without their dedication and effort. Wherever you see them thank them for stepping up.

The Board of Directors will meet on April 2nd and will discuss the following items: Finalizing the Guild Job Descriptions, creating a “Speakers Pool” which would help to develop Workshops and Programs, How to better invest the money in the Vanguard Fund, What equipment to purchase to improve the quality of our Zoom meetings. These items will be discussed at the Business meeting on April 9th. Also, Diana Nelson will discuss Gamps. At Second Saturday on April 13 Esther Bechler will have her class on 2D Felting.

This organization provides many formal and informal opportunities to get ideas and information about our cherished hobby. Without the Guild to help focus those personal interactions we would all be the lesser for it. Volunteering to spend a few hours at Wool Gathering is an easy but important way to give back to this organization that is so valuable to us.

Looking forward to seeing you all at our General meeting on April 9th.
Regards,
Eric Ottoson, President
