The Swedish origins of Crackle weave are presented, as well as Atwater’s introduction to American weavers in the late 1920s. Suggestions are given for warp, pattern weft, and tabby weft threads, and different ways to weave crackle (4-shaft and 8-shaft) are explored. Drafts assigned will include a variety of yarns, textures, and sizes, so that the participant will leave with a notebook of resources they can return to over and over for inspiration in creating their own drafts and projects. Notebook also contains extensive notes and bibliography.
NOTE FROM ELLEN: The crackle weave workshop is crowded! So far for 19 students in crackle weave: $50 workshop and $25 notebook fee = $75 total with half paid now to hold your spot. The number of students left wanting to go will determine the remaining cost due each student pays.
