We've made it to 2013 and our first meeting of the year is tonight at the usual time and place. (7pm, John Bryan Center). Sadly, I won't be able to attend, but I hope someone will take pics, or even better, a bit of video, of Abbey Franquemont's spinning technique. I remember watching her when she gave that talk on her time in South America and she's incredible to watch.

Abbey is also doing the workshop this weekend. I'm sure those attending are going to have a great time.

I don't have much of an update this time around. An advertisement for Black Swamp Spinners Guild's Fiber Fair and a link for a backstrap weaving blog. Check out the colors on that page.

Regards to all of you and I hope to have more updates soon!

It seems like this year has just flown by. Here it is December and almost time for the year-end party.

We have some updates for the website over in the Calendar section: A change in our February program and an additional mini-workshop. The former will be Diana Nelson telling us about her trip to Bhutan, the latter is a felting workshop.

Carol Baugh would like me to remind you that she needs input on the programs she's putting together for the 2013-2014 year. There's a form in the newsletter for that or you can find a copy over here on the website.

Ellen, who is hosting the party this year, is roasting a turkey for our meal. She's also given us a list of the sort of foods we should bring for the pot-luck. Those with last names ending in B to G will be bringing desserts and fruits, dips, salads. Those with last names ending in H to V’s can bring meats, pastas, veggies, etc. Beverages will be provided and a non-alcoholic punch. She also reminds us that we should bring in scarves and such for the donation basket and an ornament for the exchange.

See you all at the party. Diet? What diet?

I've had a busy time of it this last month or so, resulting in a bit of a delay in blog posting and a slightly smaller delay in updating the site.

We now have everything up that I've been given, so check out the following changes!

Abby Franquemont is coming in again, this time to talk to us about spinning as well as to run a workshop on drop spindles.I don't know about you, but I'm pretty good at dropping spindles. Not, I fear, nearly as good as Abby at keeping them spinning and getting yarn off them. So I'm betting she's going to have some great stuff for us. Having watched her spin the last time she was with us, I'd say that's a pretty safe bet!

Mary Zicafoose is going to be presenting a program about design in weaving She's also running a workshop down in Cincinnati on Vibrant Rugs and there may be open spaces left.

Carol Leigh Brack-Kaiser is doing a presentation on Navajo Weaving, as well as a workshop on the same subject. Kudos to Antonia for getting her in for us!

I've adjusted the front page so that the current month's calendar is on the left and the central bottom box contains links about weaving. So if anyone finds something interesting to post, send me the link and I'll add it in.

If anyone had pictures they think would go well on the website, send them to me. Anything from pics of your own weaving to pictures of our meetings, field trips and the like would be wonderful.

Thanks to all and I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
